They really hurt.....the wallet....lol

I think if youre gonna buy a high flow air filter like a K&N and still use an open element air cleaner to suck in hot underhood air....youre wasting money.

But over all on fast cars they make a difference....on a 350hp street car....theyre less noticable.

God bless

I don't think it mattered much, but I got a 50% discount on all K&N products where I work so I got one for cheap anyways. It looks cool though. Ideally, you'd want a cold air setup.

That might work good as long as the car is sitting still. I'd think if you had air rushing over the top of the air cleaner it would pull air out of the filter. Maybe with a scoop that forces air into the filter and insulate it from the under hood temp.

GETTING COOL OUTSIDE AIR TO THESE CARS MAKES AN ENORMOUSE DIFFERENCE. THE CRAMPED UNDERHOOD CONDITIONS CREATE MAJOR HEAT PROBLEMS IN TWO AREAS- RADIATOR COOLING ABILITIES AND ENGINES GETTING NOTHING BUT VERY HOT AIR TO BREETH. BOTH ARE VERY DETREMENTAL TO THE LONGJEVITY AND OVERALL PERFORMENCE OF YOUR ENGINE. SO DO WHAT EVER YOU HAVE TO TO GET THAT COLD AIR. I ACTUALLY CUT THE FIRE WALL AND RAN DRYER HOSE TO THE AIR CLEANER IN MY FIRST 75 5.7 LITRE MONZA 2+2 AND THE DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMENCE WAS ASTOUNDING. GET THE BEST RADIATOR YOU CAN FIT AND ALSO THE BEST WATER PUMP YOU CAN AFFORD. ALSO A GOOD IDEA IS TO PLUM YOUR INTAKE FOR MORE EVEN WATER FLOW TO THE REAR OF THE CYLINDERS. MORE EVEN COOLING GIVES MORE EVEN CARBURATION WITCH LEADS TO MORE UNIFORM COMBUSTION BETWEEN CYLINDERS WHICH MAKES FOR A SMOOTHER RUNNING HIGHER OUTPUT ENGINE. RULE ONE"THE DEVILS IN THE DETAILS" IT'S ALL THE LITTLE THINGS THAT ADD UP TO A BIG INCREASE IN PERFORMENCE.................

I use K&N filters on my Vega with the dual carb tunnel ram. I needed new air cleaners anyway and I like the fact that the K&N filters are washable / reuseable.

I hate throwing stuff away almost as much as I hate buying replacements
