Dual quads on a monza

Postby Fastmax32168 » Wed Nov 12, 2008 7:07 pm

Has anyone used the new edelbrock 7525 air gap dual quad intake on a monza? How about the old C26 dual quad intake? Just wondering about hood clearances and if it is possible without a scoop.

Hello,
New to this board. First posting. 1972 Vega Wagon.
I had the C-26 with twin 500s. I then installed the newer Edelbrock 2X4 air gap manifold with the same carbs. Although it looks great, I can't say that it out-performed the RPM performer with Holley 750DP.
I had to go with thin air filters on the current set-up due to hood clearance, but it does fit.

I ended up buying an L88 style glass hood after I posted this question so It became irrelevant to me. I also got a good look at one of those edelbrock air gap dual quad intakes at the turkey rod run and immediately realized it wasnt going to feed my AFR 210s on top of a solid roller cammed 400. I ended up finding an offenhauser 360 dual quad intake which is basically a big open plenum inside. It is supposed to be good to 8500 RPM vs 6500 edelbrock rated the air gap at. :D I cant wait to drive this car.

I didn't have either manifold but I did run the Weiand Tunnel ram with dual 450's that I heavily modified and ran a Mallory dual point and the car was reliable as heck. Drove it to Phoenix when I moved there back in '88 and drove it back home. Great mileage also considering it had 3.73's and small 235/50/13's.
