Anyone have/had used a Edelbrock STR-10 crossram intake?

Postby T-FATTY » Sun Nov 23, 2008 9:04 pm

I just read a couple of threads about tunnel rams/dual quads. I bought a nos edelbrock str-10 crossram intake with hopes/dreams of putting it on a 377 sbc for my '72 vega that has a turbo 350 w/3400 stall and a narrowed 12 bolt with 4:56s. Can theses be used/tuned to be streetable. I really like the wow factor this would have and with the stall and the gearing it would take advantage of the 377s rev qualities. Then again this has been a on and off again build that goes two steps forward and one step back that i have to get focused again on.

You will have no more problems then a tunnel ram. Just use new carbs not mis matched carbs, thats where problems can start. Learn how to set up the linkage and off you go. :D

FYI,,
I did a search,,Rare for ME,,
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,(as once upon a time I "had" a Magazine with a article on this,,,)
,,,,;On Edlbrock STR Cross Tunnel Ram,,
  E/bay has a Review Section,,,
with a nice article on the developement of the STR Intake Manifold,,

Smokey Yunick,, Intake SY-1 ,,,,also Vic Edelbrock SCCA Car,,
SY 1 Junior Johson and Bruce Mc Claren were mentioned,,"SnowFlake" (Foundry Symbol)
and they have hall mark's on some intake's
Also info on how to I.D. "what you have"

Also some Testing done with Mixed result's
Read and Enjoy print off a copy for your file's

FYI On another site it was mentioned that the intake has,,
Clearance problem's with removing Valve covers and using HEI unit's,
And the fixe's,, some older ones had Modification's to clear the HEI,
