Those have very little filtering capability - just a layer of foam. In my opinion, the only reason I would use one is for a Motion clone or restoration.

I'm with Chuck on that. It's cool from an old-school stand point. Something you could swap out when you are showing or something. It kinda comes from an age of bad filter tech and the need for better flow. I might have the clearance problem too. I've lowered the engine by almost 2" but I also increased the manifold height… We'll see.

Another thing to consider is if you happen to have a backfire through the carb all the stuff you would end up with down the intake.

Been there, done that with those stupid Edelbrock Pro-Flo triangle filters. Cleaning melted foam off your annulars and air bleeds really sucks.

I never ran one, but Mr Gasket used to sell them in the late60's-70's. Several friends used to run them, and yes when you had a good backfire starting the car it used to get interesting, I remember a friend of mine with a 73 Firebird Formula had one, Backfired, and the gas soaked foam caught on fire and melted the center of his stock Formula hood!!!!

And the monza engine compartment is too crowded to draw good air from on top of the engine with a stock hood.

I'd look for a snorkel, or Bonnet ( I use one from an early 80's buick hot air turbo motor).

And plumb it to a K/N filter away from the big heat sources.
