Quadrajet vacuum line diagram needed

Postby patrick1151 » Tue Dec 08, 2009 3:52 pm

Hey I am just finishing my motor swap in my V8 car and it has a a quadrajet on it. I know the carb is out of a 80 GMC van but I dont have any numbers from the carb. I am going to need to sort out the vaccum lines next. Anyone have a diagram or know where I can get one? Thanks

As far as the vac lines go...you could also just try a vac gauge.

I suspect your only going to find Full Idle vac, and Ported vac. Then just hook up accordingly, There's also the carb bowl vent at the top. I'm pretty sure they have a large PCV hookup on the baseplate. I just had my Q jet book here.

Do you run EGR still, or any of the other emission gizmo's?

thanks everyone. PCV valve+egr are there. I need to run a line to the EGR+to the vaccum advance on the distributor for sure. I have an electric choke conversion kit for it as my intake did not have the envirenemnental hook ups on it. I dont know if I will stick with this large quadrajet long term or find a a carb in the 650-700 cfm range. I am going to get the #'s off the carb to confirm the size. Off a truck motor, would it be a 850 or 1050? any ideas.

Probably 800, - doesn't really mean anything, as the Qjet carb is designed to only give the engine what it needs....so if your car only pulls 510cfm at WOT then thats all it will get, because of the secondary airflap.

So cfm rating when running a qjet, isn't really an issue.

There's a way you can tell if you have a 750 or 800 by looking at the venturi's.. i think its the primaries...- the tip can be found on google- if theres a full ridge around the venturi's its a 750 if there's just a hump then its an 800.

Guys, Rochester did not make any 850, 1050, ect. cfm carbs...only 750 & 800. Yes looking through the primary bores, there is a rounded bump inward on the venturi walls. If the carb is off of the vehicle, open the choke & the throttle plate...the bump is fairly obvious. As mentioned, the Q-jet, by design can work well with a large aray of engine size. Lorne

Thanks, I will not be able to finish this off till after Christmas now to a number of things. Once everything is finished, I am going to bring the car home from Len's where its currently parked and then I am going to start redoing the suspension in the spring. All I need to buy is a posi carrier or posi rear end and the gears I want.
