Sloan Cosworth intake

Postby cosvega76 » Mon Dec 21, 2009 5:38 pm

For those of you familiar with Frank Sloan's Bonneville-record-setting Cosworth (viewtopic.php?f=12&t=19406), here is a shot of the intake manifold that helps it reach 8000-plus RPM....

Thanks for the correction, Dick! I didn't have the information in front of me, and didn't want to overstate the facts.

That piece is automotive jewelry!

Pictures like that engine shot make it hard to resist putting one of those Cosworths under the hood of my Vega.
An eight cylinder swap just makes more sense, for economic reasons and amount of effort.
Now if I had a second H-body...........

Dick,

Do you have another pic of the new intake from the viewpoint of that last pic you just posted?
That intake is a work of art. 8)

Tom,

I don't have that angle, in or out of the car. What do you want to see? It is just a curved piece of aluminum at the front.

November's run at El Mirage. I only watched it once but I think it gets a little squirrely in third gear. Frank said there was very little traction.

Edit: Just watched it again, it was fourth gear and it looks like he did get it to 9K. That's just about 156mph at the end of the run but I think the timing is measured over the last half a mile. That means he's dancing around trying to go straight between 140 & 156 on dirt! I don't know if he set a new record this time.
