Right carb base gasket...

Postby marco_1978_spyder » Sat Jun 12, 2010 8:05 am

I just found an edelbrock 600 to try out....

Its going on an edel. 2701 dual plane manifold.
This manifold has a divider...so I should use a gasket with the same divider in the middle right? As opposed to an open plenum gasket.

Thanks.

i think you should just use the open gasket for the dual plane. all there is between the two planes is the divider. only other gasket would be with 4 holes which would probably be used on a stock type 4 hole manifold. they have real cheap gaskets and there are better on for a few pennies more. get one by mr gasket or one of the brand names. they are a little thicker and seem to have a more fiber type texture. art

If your manifold divider has a notch or cut-out I would use the open gasket. If it has a full divider then I would use a gasket that maintains the seal all the way to the carb.
