carb change, WOW! what a difference!

Postby 73astregt » Sat Jun 19, 2010 3:53 pm

replaced my edelbrock 650 thunder series avs carb today with an 800 thunder series avs,man what a difference! it feels like i just threw an extra hundred ponies under the hood! :th: a fellow i know from the local show and shine had the 800 wich was on the 440 rt he just bought for about a week before he bought the car and he immediately changed the car over to a 6 pack setup and sold me the 800 for 200.00, i just couldent pass up that deal! i barely have to lay my toe on the gas to cruise and when i crack it open it goes like a scalded cat! im going to hang on to the 650 till i see what the gas milage is with the 800 incase its too heavy on fuel on a long highway cruise, if so ill just pop on the 650 for the run then put the 800 back on for playing! now to get rid of that damn wheel hop!

I know the feeling.. :th:

Ole' Vic will love this thread.

I just bolted on a regular 600 performer in decent shape, and it's done wonders for the cars road manner's.

And it was a simple 2 beer bolt on. (kidding, I rarely drink). But I just adjusted the mixture screws for the highest vacuum and it responded with a nice crisp throttle response throught the rpm range. I'm very happy with it so far.

ya marco that 600 will work very well on a stock or close to stock 305 or 350 for cruising or somewhat spirited street driving! i hope this means youve finally gotten the bugs out and gotten your passport so you can attend the monzaque this year! :th:

I'll tell ya what...

a week or 2 ago, the way the car was running, and for a few other reasons...I was thinking there was no way I would be going this year...

The way the car ran today after an oil change to some fresh 10w30...It runs like it could circle Lake Ontario 9 times. So provided my latest job situation works out...I should be there.

Got to see about and enhanced drivers licence this week.
