edelbrock 1406 tuning help

Postby mr.scitals54 » Fri Jul 02, 2010 5:40 pm

so i just bought this blazer up in lake tahoe (6200ft) and the thing ran great never died or anything but when i got it home (4500ft) it would start up and run great but once it warms up it would die and you would have to wait a little bit for it to start up. i thought the choke was stuck but the guy before me took it off.i also noticed that after it died if you looked at the carb, gas would be dripping from one of the rods on that passenger side of the carb. could it be that it is running so rich that it is fludding when it idles??

thanks
Joe

Sure, check the float levels and for too much fuel pressure.

Edelbrocks only like about 5 to 5.5 psi, vs. 5.5 to 7 for Holleys, 8)

You could also have something stuck in the needle and seat. Edelbrocks/Carters are pretty easy to disassemble. If it hasn't been rebuilt in a while take it apart and clean it out replacing the parts in the kit. Just take a picture or make sure you know how the linkages go on the outside of the carb, other than that they are a piece of cake.
