They say if you have to go up or down more than 8 jet sizes, than the carb was wrong to begin with...not that i agree with that...thats just what they say.
My guess is that if you had to drill the butterflys, than you need a more "tuneable" carb.
Carbs are just controlled vacuum leaks...and controlled they can be...
Partouz, Give us some more information on the motor and maybe we can make a recomendation on a suitable carburetor option for you.
Its been my personal experience and opinion that most if not all v8 engine can use a 750cfm carburetor.

PS: Art, Ive been working nights for the past year, so most of my free time is either spent wrenching in the garage, working on customers cars, or spending quality time with my wonderful wife. I still try to get on when I can...I havent forgotten about you guys. Still got the monza rusting behind the garage...for a later time and date, when it will be rebuilt to run in its IMSA race heritage and glory.
