Air cleaner

Postby monzacoupe » Fri Sep 10, 2010 10:12 pm

Hi guys, I was just browsing the garage and noticed a v-6 powered monza (jaydawgnit1000's) in there with a stock air cleaner on it and a hose coming out of the air cleaner towards the passenger side. My question, where is the other end of the hose attached and should I have one of those attached as well?

my '78 parts coupe has an air tube (metal ) adjacent to the headlight area in front radiator support panel.
if you can locate that round tube (about 3" dia. ? ) in your radiator support, then chances are your car had a fresh air intake hose.
just an assumption on my part, I have been known to be wrong. :|
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

The metal tube is found in Vega's and early 4 cyl 2nd gen cars (monza)..

Other years and motors used a plastic adapter tube that bolted to the inner fender under the hood.

Some models used a tube connecting to the passengerside. Most used the drivers side.

If your's doesnt have the black plastic hose adapter still in place, you can tell if your car used to have one, as there will be a tennis ball sized hole punched out of the inner fender (near the battery-drivers side). If it never had one the piece of metal will still be in place sealing up the hole. But you'll be able to see where it goes.

Most V6 didnt use one.
