1406 Carb

Postby my79monza » Tue Apr 19, 2011 11:18 am

I have a brand new ZZ4 crate motor and am wondering if a Edelbrock 1406 (600 cfm) will be adequate for this engine or am I going to have to go bigger? if so what carb is needed?
This is for street application, the car won't see a drag strip.

I think for a street car that should be fine. Better to always under carb than over carb when in doubt.

Merle,

On the street, a 600 carb will have crisper throttle response than a 750. I've run a 600 DP Holley on mine for years, and have a 600 Edelbrock in the basement waiting for the weather to break.

i think ( no, really, i occasionally do...) that there is a formula for figuring out your ballpark carb cfm requirements, something like " cubic inches times max rpm divided by 3456"...or something like that...then again i could be retarded. actually, theres a better than average chance of that.
