V8 fuel lines?

Postby 67shovel » Tue Dec 27, 2011 1:50 pm

What should I do to my fuel system to run my 350 hp SBC in my 73 Vega wagon? Can I ditch the stock fuel line and return line and just run one 3/8 line to a mechanical pump? Figured I'd pull the stock tank mounted elec pump and extend the 3/8" through the mount plate and stick a sock on it?

The second line is a vapor recovery line used for emissions. It can be used as a return line but that's not how it came from the factory. Not sure what size line a Vega uses, I still use my stock fuel line and pump on my Monza which feeds a warmed over 355. Never had any problem with it. Depends on your engine and rpm combo as well as your intended use of the car. You may need to upgrade to a larger line and a return line is certainly a good idea, it helps keep the fuel cooler and prevents vapor lock.
