gas tank storage

Postby monzacoupe » Sun Sep 09, 2012 4:52 pm

Anyone have a suggestion on how to store an empty gas tank? I've removed the tank from my parts car due to the hanger straps being rusted out, and now I want to store the tank for reuse/resell. It is mostly empty except for the last few drops of twenty-year old smelly stuff that was in there, what can be added to the tank to cut down on the smell and to prevent the interior from rusting?

Im guessing the sending unit is still in? I would leave it out in the sun filler side up to dry out the old fuel, then mist the inside with spray moisture displacement. They sell it for protecting bores in blocks ect, supposidly better then wd40. A lil of that wont hurt when new owner fills up tank.
