I dropped my tank again so I found out the the power wire to the pump is loose so I have to solder it so it's tight because I pressed the connection together and the pump hummed so I submerged it in gas and sure enough it was pumping. So now before I put it back in I'm gonna cut a service door so I won't have to drop the tank again to get to the pump

Good idea to cut a service door; I've seen lots of older pickup trucks with a hatch in the cargo bed over the sender.

The reason the factory doesn't do this (aside from the obvious almighty $$$$$$) is they have yet to come up with a door that won't open in a crash, and spray down the interior with fuel during a spark and possible flame filled time. Just something I found out years ago. Use your best judgement and be safe. Remember those accidents (rear enders) are usually out of our control and death isn't the worst thing that can happen to you, you could live after such an accident (burnt bad)! I don't want to be a downer but I have acquaintances that have lived through medium burn accidents lots of scarring missing appendages etc. I just want to HELP, don't take this the wrong way Please! I think that's why cars also have "firewalls". Safety is something that the factory has to think about, unfortunately what people do afterwards is their own problem. I am just speaking in general terms, not necessarily about a trap door for the sender unit. Reminds of how many times I have suggested not to bypass the oil pressure sender for the fuel pump. Sure, it will work fine for probably 99.9% of people, it's that .1% that may die.

Most Japanese cars have an access panel that you can unscrew under the back seat to get at the fuel pump.
