Switch to webers on Cosworth

Postby dindin » Wed May 28, 2014 2:56 pm

Any regrets out there from people who have done it?? I just wanna drive the car without having to deal with so many things that could possibly cause problems, anything that I should consider when I change over.

.Thanks Al

I'm not sure I know what you mean. I was just on there a couple of minutes ago.

All I meant was, it seems like the yahoo boards are not used much anymore, kind of like a bomb when off and yahoo was killed..but I may join anyway..

Thanks Al

Webers do make things simpler. Webers like about 4-4.5 lbs fuel pressure so an adjustable regulator would be a good addition. You can leave the high pressure fuel pump in the line, it is usually powered by the ECU but best to make sure to disconnect the connector.

Thanks Dick, I should be getting the webers any day now, hopefully the install will not be very difficult.

It's pretty straight forward as long as you have Hutton's throttle cable bracket. Typically the engine likes 15 degrees initial timing from the factory 12 and the re-timed cam pulleys help either type of intake.

Well I just got it, its brand new so Mr Hutton gave me everything I need. From what I read on instructions I need to drill a hole through firewall for choke cable??
Does the reindexed pulley make a big difference with webers, I thought it was mainly for FI systems.
anyways it looks like a nice setup..can't wait to see how it performs..:)

Thanks Al

Yes, for the choke cable you need a small hole. I don't used the choke, a couple pumps on the accelerator pedal and it will usually fire up. You just play with the throttle a bit once it starts. The reindexed pulleys work well with the Webers, it gets rid of the emission cam timing which has a lot of overlap and also allows a lower idle speed.
