Help - 1978 Iron Duke Running Like CRAP

I daily my '78 Starfire to school and back. It's a little over 60 miles. Even though the Iron Duke doesn't get the greatest mileage, I really enjoy the car.
However, lately it's been starting to run very sloppy. We just changed the oil and plugs about a month ago, and we noticed that the plugs we took out had half the gap that the one's we bought. Since we installed the new ones, it ran great for a while, but now I'm getting a very choppy idle and the car has a very noticeable miss at all rpms.

I think the carb needs replaced. The plastic pieces that hold the choke in are shot, so the choke falls out constantly. I can't find a choke assembly anywhere, and I don't think a rebuild kit would include the pieces I need. Does anyone know where I can get a new carb for this motor? Or the models of the original carbs for this motor? A NOS one would be fine, but if there's one that could help with gas mileage a bit, I'd consider. As a broke college kid, I'm trying my best to keep up with replacing parts on this car. Thanks for any help in advance! If you need pics of the carb, I can attach them.

I cant help you with the carburetor thing but it certainly sounds like you need to re-visit the spark plug issue and determine whether or not you indeed have the correct gap on those new plugs ..

I agree, re-gap the plugs. If it's a miss... has there been any excessive moisture lately? check all wires for shorting and or arcing. when you pull the plugs they'll tell you which cyl is the dud to help you narrow down the problem.

If you are still looking for a carb I have one from a 77 Iron duke that worked well 4 years ago when it was removed, $25 plus the ride, I can post pictures if you are interested, the 77-78 are the only years that used the non cross flow head so they should be interchangeable, this came off a 77 Astre
