droped air cleaner base is a good idea to try. it may cause littler clearance problems with linkage, hoses etc. coming from carb. you just need to try one. moroso makes one.usually dropping carb down(removing spacer) flattens out the performance a little, especially at low end, as the gas and air mix dont have enough time to blend to give a good charge down the intake. that's , one good reason the old factory 2 -4 intakes( low rise, offset carbs) on the early camaros and amx's were real dogs as street cars(at bottom end of power band). they perked them up a bit with carb spacers. its important to match the intake to your engines power makers(cam and heads and carb) to get the intake that will give you the best of both worlds at both top and bottom end. art
