Camaro lights

Postby rgsuperstrat » Tue Oct 24, 2006 2:47 am

Has anyone ever tried to retrofit tail lights from a 70's Camaro to a Monza? I have been looking at other cars, and trying to figure out if any other parts will work, because the stock ones are soooo hard to find. Now if I could only figure out how to get that turbine to bolt up?!

There was a black Vega I remembered seeing at the Car Craft Summer Nats in Minnesota that had it done. I had thought of that idea before, and seeing it made up my mind. It looks very cool, and I think it looks better than the stock taillights. But that's just me.

I think those round lights look great on a Vega.

The lights I am mentioning are the long ones with the triangle ends. For my monza. Oh yeh, I agree, the lights on the vega are very nice!!

D'OH! Didn't see that you were asking about Monzas.

Don't know if that'll work. From what it looks like, that Camaro taillight is not as wide, but it is much taller and closer to being square. Would seem like a lot of work, but then again Monza taillights aren't exactly easily bought.

That looks like the Camaro - I mean, Vega - that was in Car Craft.

The way I like to do it is to replace the inner two backup lights with another pair of taillights. That way there's four red across, and they work in pairs, like the Corvette. That's what I did to my 71 Camaro.

I kicked around the idea of Vette tail lights on my Monza. I think it would be easier to use the "non-wrap around" style rear end and fill in where the lights are. I did some photo shop work and it does look neat. Can't post any yet cuz they are on the old computer.
