No front bumper

Postby NixVegaGT » Sun Jan 28, 2007 7:32 pm

I want to go no bumper on the front of my early Vega. It's going to take some thinking but I think it will look cool. Kinda like a classic 260 Ferrari front. Loosing 20lbs out front can't hurt either since I've added as much with the extra support I've added to the crossmember for the rack steering...

I was wondering if anyone had heard or seen it done before?

Thanks in advance for the posts and opinions.

I have a split (read: cut) front bumper on my '72. I want to fix the ends and have the bumpers re-welded. I think it looks really good.
'72 Vega with '93 Camaro LT1/M29 T56/12 bolt 3.31. 16" IROCs all around. Sanderson headers into duals with an H-pipe and Flowmasters. It's loud but at least it's faster than your grandma's Buick. pwned.

putting split bumpers on vegas is not advisable, doing so weakens the superstructure. if you do add them, you must also add brace material to keep the frount end from splitting/spreading and dropping the engine. if you do want to add them, find camaro set, i picked up mine at a swap meet for $20, a lot less than cutting, shaping, and recromeing would cost

yes, I saw your Um sagging headlights, you are braver than I am. I am attempting to go the other way, cutting out the suspension, and leaving the fenderwells to tie back into with (gag) MII type suspension or some other type. I looked at the jegs posting, and some others. if you have any ideas, i would appriciate them, i started a new post on it.

I know just want you are talking about Pan a buddy of mine who is building a 72 Vega Gt pro street did that same thing he cut out the front inner fenders on it and the top of the doors droped badley you could slide all 4 fingers into the gap on the top of the doors and touch the inside of the door frame with out opening the door since then we have fixed it by just jacking the door back into place it was the only thing we could do to get the doors back to where they belonged since these cars don't have any adjustment in the doors.
