Vega rear quarter

Postby steelhead » Thu Oct 04, 2007 7:53 pm

I'm checking panels for my 77 Astre, Toms got one I can remove, but I found a new one on e-bay.I was under the impression all Vegas were the same, but I noticed it looks like the sidelight is at different heights between71-73 and 74 on?
Anyone comfirm this for me?

I can't confirm it but if that's the only difference it wouldn't be hard to move the hole.

71 - 73 Vegas have the fuel filler in the back behind the license plate. 74-77 have the filler in the rear quarter panel.

I am not sure about the marker light differences, if there are any.

Looks like the marker lights front and rear were moved higher.

Well once I get the radiator & fan back in I'll take it back down to the body shop and let him decide which he'd rather have, a whole 30 year old correct panel removed from a car or a brand new panel which the light will need to be moved. The new one also does'nt go up into the louver spot behind the window, it goes in a straight line off the window to the hatch line. Oh and cost, removal time vs $300

You missed the obvious, the cut out for the rear bumper.71-73 had the skinny bumpers,74-77 had large bumpers.A body shop may be able to modify that older quarter to fit a newer vega.

Kevin,
I think you are right. Just to be certain, I looked at my 76 Vega GT. Yep, there's a notch for the big bumper. That must have been why GM moved the marker light.

Lanse,
If you could find an early passenger side quarter, then you could put a small rear bumper on that Astre. That would look real good.
