Postby grumpy d-bone » Sat Feb 02, 2008 2:46 pm

guess im stuck with my 15x10 centerlines, they hang out a little too much on the sides for me, anyone know where i might find a set of rear fender flares for it to make it look a little nicer?

I think they are more for running a narrowed rear with a larger diameter tire. If I was grumpy I'd go buy some bushwacker flares and a gallon of bondo. Just kidding. You might want to search the web for fender rolling or fender flaring. Or find some 70's/80's car guys that use to flare fenders before companies started making them. It's a lost art.

The Harwood look like larger diameter extention. I like where you are going with this though. Keep us posted if you find a good solution.

The only company I can find that even lists rear flares for a Vega is Showcars. (GASP! I know , I know....... from what many have posted on this site and V8Monza.com, I am reluctant to even bring it up).

But they do list them.

http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/vega.html

I have no experience with this company or their products. As such I can neither vouch for them nor slam them. However many others said they have had less than positive experiences.

Grumpy, all I have is just under 4000.00 for a
complete wisbone 4-link with narrowed 9-inch, 35 spline moser axles, moser center section w/spool, explorer disc brakes, 15x12 pro stars with 6-inch back spacing..and I will need the fender extension from harwood. Just haven't picked them up yet. Trying to get enough time off to finish installing of the small block.

grumpy, something you can do(and i have worked with this stuff) is tape off your wheel opening area and use spray foam insulation( like you use around your doors and windows in your house) to build up enough of it to carve it the shape of the flares you want. this stuff is cut easily with a hacksaw blade to get the rough shape and then you can use a sanding disc to smooth it to what you want. after you get what you want just remove it from the car and use it for a mould to make the part in fiberglass! i plastered a pair of rocker panels on an old pathfinder(huge holes!) like this and cut the foam and sanded it and just covered it in chip guard spray to hide it and you would never know i did it to look at it, the stuff is still there after four years of northern ontario salt and snow! think back to the show horse power tv where the guys made the extended quarter panels with flares for that race mustang they were working on. they used spray foam to do it!

I'm selling a set on ebay right now. They've been on there all week!

The only Vega's that only had a little rust were the ones still on the assembly line.

does anyone have any pics of some extended wheel wells so we can get a idea of what they look like i have some 15x8.5 wheels but the spacing is off and it sticks out so i have to either do some or buy new wheels or do some flares.
