Best way to fix oil canning?

Postby 78spyder » Sun May 18, 2008 8:52 pm

A friend welded the Vega's hatch area. up top between the hinges. It was rotted away and he fabbed a patch panel and welded it in, did a pretty good job too, but, the back of the roof area between the hinges warped and oil canned. Pushing my hand from one side to the other causes it to pop in and out in two spots so I need to fix that before I fill or anything. Im wondering if applying heat to it and quenching it with water may shrink the metal? never had to deal with this before, Anyone else ever attack something like this?
