Hood hinges

Postby MachoPoncho » Tue Mar 16, 2010 12:04 am

ok so i bought a new fiberglass bolt on hood and i went to take my old steel one off and saw that it was welded to the hinges so now i am in the process of making some new ones i chose to do it out of aluminum just cause its easier to work with.. i was wondering if any one had to make their own and wanted some tips.

I'd like to see what you made. I've thought about just cutting off the old hinges and drillling some holes in them. Mark
The only Vega's that only had a little rust were the ones still on the assembly line.

Nice work, Macho.
What type of welder did you use on the aluminum?

Good thinking, art. You could make a hinge like that out of a piece of aluminum angle. No welding required.

Good thinking, art. You could make a hinge like that out of a single piece of aluminum angle or tee. No welding required.
