rear window chrome trim

Postby my79monza » Fri Apr 23, 2010 11:11 pm

I want to remove the vinyl top on my 80 coupe.
it appears that I should remove the chrome trim around the rear window to get all the vinyl off but I don't know how to remove the trim and don't want to ruin it, besides there is rust in the trunk, probably leaking around the rear window somewhere.
any suggestions?
Thanks, Merle

if the rear window is leaking and needs to be resealed the glass shop should have the tools to get the chrome off, and putting it back on shouldn't require the tools.

Most trim is removed with a very simple tool that slides under the trim and pulls back the plastic clip. It's basically a flat piece of metal with a hook on the end. Not positive if it's the same with a vinyl roof though.
