I mixed up a paste of baking soda with water and painted it on the corroding spots and it cured the problem! I let it set for about a week and the local rust issue stopped.

hey shovel just read how you used the baking soda. guys that clean out their gas tanks with muriatic acid then use a mixture of baking soda to nuetralize it(whatever that means) is this the same thing you just did to stop future corrosion. what would be a good mixture ratio to do inside my gas tank... i may not have to use the acid wash if it looks ok when i inspect in there with the mini camera. megavega said to just clean out the tank with kerosene and then just keep gas in it.( this is the alternative to acid wash) what do you have to offer for advice for me with my tank thanks art

I don't know what the ratio would be to use in your tank.

Muriatic solution should be 5%. So, just figure out how much water you are going to use and calculate what 5% of that is and that's how much acid you use. Be aware that this acid is nasty, you do not want to inhale it and you should wear protective clothing and eye protection.
