Front part replacement 1979 Monza

Postby Monsterblock » Mon Sep 29, 2014 8:55 am

Ok guys,
i kinda got a little problem with the hood of my 1979 Chevrolet Monza 2+2 Sport Coupe.
It's not fitting roundabout, most likely with the front part (nose).
I have to say that i'm from Germany, so it wont be that easy to get any used part like this from a salvage yard.

I guess some pictures will be the best to explain the problem:

Thats the left side of the nose part
Also wondering if the 2 rivets supposed to be there.

Thats the opposit side, which has no connection to the right fender (look at the gap).

Thats the front view, also quite a big gap since the hood is closed and snapped in.
The fishplates, connecting the front part with the frame, were broken off by 1 of the preowners.

Thats the hood side near the right fender

I don't know if i could anyhow fix this by myself or look for a new part.
I think it was the best that i got here and hopefully anyone could help me in this case.
Thanks in advance, Martin.

The easiest way to fix this is remove the header panel and then remove the studs and epoxy the studs back into header panel . Replacement will be hard to find in Germany and then you would have to paint to match . If this trick does not work you will have to replace the header panel good luck its not that hard to fix just plan on some down time so epoxy has time to cure
