Roof oil canning

Here's my next dilemma- I've got some oil canning happening in a few places. I think I've got it figured out where I need to shrink and stretch for most of it but my roof I'm not so sure about. It doesn't move that much but it's a pretty big area where the ribs are and I'm not too eager to start playing with a torch or a hammer on such a big panel.
The solution I've come up with is to use panel adhesive between the outer and inner roof skin to stiffen it up a bit (doesn't need much). Is there any reason I shouldn't do this or is that a pretty common way to fix this kind of problem?
