Hey People, i am new to the H body deal. I aquired a '72, that was built for SCCA solo events, the fella passed and i got it from his widow, my plan is to make a Open Road race car , but ,, what i am curious about is this: I have made the 5 lug conversion, in the process of adapting rear disc rotors and calipers to the rear. In my purchase of new calipers, the parts guy say's any caliper will suffice a core, so , i was going to take the original caliper off of the Vega spindle and got introduced to a plastic thingy holding the caliper on( ok go ahead and laugh) . So, without destroying that to get caliper loose,, what was GM's method of removal?/?

The calipers are removed by sliding out the retaining pin that goes through the plastic sleeves. There should be a small retaining clip on one end of the pin. After that just lift it off.
