1980 Chevrolet Monza Spyder

I think that is the Z01 option. Look for it on your Build Sheet.
My 78 Monza Spyder has the graphics (RPO Z02) and it also has an "02BLK" on the Trim Tag. I don't know if a Z01 Spyder would have anything on the Trim Tag, but you could check yours.

I truely don't know much about trim tags and vin numbers but I do remember when we ordered the Monza that we specifically said that we wanted all the performance stuff that would be on the Spyder but without all the graphics. The salesman set us up with the performance rear ratio with posi and the handling package along with the V8 and 4 speed. No graphics but also no spyder emblems.

I meant to add that to my original post.
Marco is the expert on these things. Especially Monza Spyders.

My build sheet has options Z29 and Z49. I looked at the vin decoding in the library and none of the Z options actually list the decal package so Im still wondering ? hopefully some one has the answer.

I looked into this and noticed that my 78 Spyder build sheet lists both Z01 & Z02 while the build sheet for my 80 Spyder parts car only lists Z29.

If memory serves me, in 1980 the Spyder Appearance and Equipment packages were combined and you could not order them separately as you could have in the previous years.

Thanks I guess the only way to know for sure it to order a restoration pac from g.m. on this car.
The reason I'm asking is this red spiders shell is in pretty good shape and I feel that this might be a good prospect for a factory orignal resto.
How ever if it did come with decals there's not much hope in finding them so other options are available to me with the parts I've aquired over the years.

1980 Chevrolet Monza Spyder

I have all that Spyder info on my website and a specific Spyder page.
Z01 - 77-79 Spyder Equipment
Z02 - 77-79 Spyder Appearance
Z29 - 1980 Spyder package (combined)

For 77-79 you could order just Z01 and you got Spyder script emblems on the front fenders but no decals. You could order the Z02 as well, but you had to order Z01 with it as well.

1980 Spyder package combined equipment and appearance together and could be be seperated.

I thought the script emblem was only a 76 thing. That would explain why my 79 had no decals but had the script on the sides and front/rear/horn button emblems. That car was stolen 15 years or more ago but I still have the script emblems.

Thanks Bryan , I looked at your site info but didn't know that in 80 you could order different parts of the Z29 option. So it is posable that a 1980 spider may not of had the stripe package but the only way to know would be the resto pac from G.M.

Hey Len
You misread my post. For 1980, the Spyder package included both equipment and appearance and could not be split up, it qwas all one RPO Code (Z29).

I don't understand. You said it could be seperated now you say it can't? The first post must be a typo then. The "could be be seperated" must have been meant to be "could not be seperated".

Oops, my bad, yes, it is a typo and should read ... "not be". Thanks for pointing that out.
