Need input on replacing trunk insulation pad

Postby Jitterbugdude » Tue Aug 12, 2008 11:17 am

My 72 Kammback's trunk lid insulation is in great shape. The only problem is, being 36 years old it sure does kick up alot of dust/powder when I open the trunk lid to access the spare tire. I'm thinking of replacing the pad. I can pull off the tire changing label and put it on the new pad, or I was thinking of maybe spraying some type of clear coat on the original pad.. not much, just enough to "lock in" the original pad. Any ideas, suggestions?

As for a new pad, anyone have a supplier? I'd probably just get a generic one from JC Whitney if I can't get an original type!

Randy, Look into the insulation sold in hot rod catalogs [summit, jegs, etc] You can probably find something that will work even better but probably cost a bit more that the stock type stuff. Brian
