Electric Rad Fan

Postby azbigal » Thu Nov 20, 2008 4:57 pm

Hey Folks! I recently acquire a 75 Monza 2+2 California model and discovered it has an electric radiator fan that appears to be original and not an add on. It looks to be GM engineered with a temp switch in the radiator and all wires look to be oringinal that run thru the harness along with the rest of the wiring. How rare is this?

I believe that was either a option or it maybe came with AC? I have never really seen one, I believe it is fairly rare.

According to my 1978 Monza Shop Manual an "auxiliary fan is installed forward of the radiator on all air conditioned vehicles equipped with a V8 engine" and is "thermostatically operated by an engine thermostatic switch located on the rear right side of the engine head [sic}". It should have a low water level light switch in the radiator but I don't think they put the fan switch there.

I have one of those fans I acquired ages ago. I've never seen another one.
