Thats is what I am wondering about Is it a formula or not .
It is laking the spoiler,The formula lettering on the door and has no rear sway bar.
But it has the formula steering wheel ,some of the proper decals and the blacked out trim and grill i'ts as if gm ran out of parts to finish or aborted the process in the middle of assembly. Here is a pic of the trim tag if it help Identify is one way or another

Roadhawk the owner said it sat there for about 5 years he also said that the origional owner was his friends grand ma who the gave it to her grand son the was driven across Canada to Van and was sold to him. Looks to me that there is about 60,000 mile on it as it has the imperial spedo. Hope to get it on a hoist on the week end to have a boo .
Thanks again for letting me know where it was at and I,m wondering how come you didn't buy it years ago.

Cool. You'll have to search for a buildsheet. (perhaps behind drivers door panel).. may have been a special order, with some customer requested delete's.
Or, the previous owner got a hold of the right striping and some black spraypaint.

I don't know if it is a Formula or not, and that the content of the Formula Apearance Package changed year to year, but I know that 77 & 78's a True Formula will have Rally Guages, Tilt wheel, Pwr steering, Formula steering wheel, RTS Suspension (that includes a rear sway bar.) And all the external apearance items, rear & front spoilers, decals, charcoal lower & rear panels, blacked out grills & some if not all window trim.
Also be aware that the Formula Steering wheel was available as an option on all Sunbirds & Astre's. So I don't beleive it is a Formula, even though it has some items, but let me say I am always happy to be proved wrong. Also be aware that if you can't find the buildsheet in the car, you can always send away to PHS for the billing info on the car for a fee of around $50.00. Here is a link to there site, but the service is mail in or fax only now.

Nice find though!!!

Ok It does have pwr strng and tilt wheel and the rts label on the dash but not the rally gauges ,ft & rear spoilers suppose the rear sway bar could have been removed as this was said to be sold to grand Ma
the odometer reads 56,157 miles and was in Wichita Gm Dealer at one time .Prestige Pontiac Cadillac Wichita is what the dealer badge on the back hatch says. Wonder if there still around.

Any formula knock off I've ever seen, usually isnt detailed enough to include the stripes around each headlight opening.

That looks authentic.
It's possible to that a Formula could have been ordered with the spoilers deleted. The rally gauges were a seperate ordered item, so it may or may not have them and still be a formula.
Its also possible that someone dressed the car up at some point in its life.

The formula decal for the door on 1980 models was smaller and above the blacked out area, vs. the early formula's that had the big script, down low, like on a Firebird.
