Lol, yeah I actually had a gander at it before I crashed out last night.

Thanks for posting! As far as the 66 units go....I'm wondering about that now because the article also states that the order codes disappeared sometime in February, yet this Sunbird shows that V8's were being installed in July.

Surely they would have completed orders from February by then. I smell a fish.

I'm still reeling over monzsta's trim tag, being its the closest match I have found to date.

I'm also still stumped by the 'B' code after 19X.... I'm now thinking it might be for modification the roof needed to get the vista-vent installed. before it left fisher-body

Yeah, I'm more than a little excited to see a Formula buildsheet and I found a couple RPO Codes that I didn't have on my listing.
I guess we need to find Trim Tags of other cars that came with vista-vents and sunroofs to clarify the 'B' mystery.

There is a seperate RPO Code (P17) for the Space Saver Spare Tire cover 9not sure if that code also reflects the full sized spare tire cover too though. Marco, I think that cut in the carpetting was automatically put in all cars. All the Monzas and Skyhawks I've ever had have been space saver cars bu the main hatch carpetting was always cut to expose the hook that the full-sized spare tire was bolted down to.

The article says: "Just as quietly in January 1979, the order codes disappeared"

I have a Vista Vent with no "B" after 62X.

Oh it was 1979? I'll have to go re-read the article. So they ran all of 78. Hmm. and only 129 unit's?

Maybe it was simply V8 4 speed models.

And scratch the vista vent theory. Hmm.

And my formula has the P17 spare tire cover, and no B code, so thats not it either.

Hmm. I wonder about the deluxe interior, since it had the deluxe steering wheel, but I dont see an RPO code for a deluxe interior.

Does it have cut pile carpeting or a shaggier sort of thing??

While we're on the subject:
Bryan's RPO page has this listed.
"62X Camel Tan Coloured Appointments with White Interior - Sunbird (1978) / "Big 4 Tan" (1979)"

I have "62X BIG 4 TAN" on my 1978 buildsheet and no white interior pieces.

The Big 4 are always 1 color.
The other interior color is either the same for a solid color interior,
Or a different number for 2 tone.
Each one in itself represents a solid color.

So say my Formula Sunbird with White and Black interior would list 19X to get the black carpets, console, dash board, and kickpanels.
And 11Z to get white vinyl. The door panels, headliner, Apillars, and rear side panels usually corresponded to this color.

Both numbers can be found on the trim tag and the buildsheet.

OK, now I'm a little confused
Directly from Pontiac's dealership ordering manuals.

62W - 'Plisse' Standard vinyl interior colour
62N - 'Oxen' Standard vinyl interior colour
62G - 'Frisco' Luxury Cloth interior colour
62Z - 'Doeskin' Luxury Vinyl interior colour
62R - 'Oxen' Standard vinyl interior colour for Sport Safari Wagon only.
62X refered to the Camel colour that was in addition to the white interior (Appointment Mix Interiors - white vinyl interior with coloure appointments - for the N and Z code interiors)

Like Marco said, you ordered 11N or 11Z and 62X which got you white with Camel appointments.

Basically if you had an X code you had to have a white with an extra colour interior. But what you have on your buildsheet directly opposes what the Pontiac publication is telling me. To add to the confusion, Marco, the publication (not me, the book, lol) does not offer a white/black interior combo (just Blue, Camel, Ember and Carmine) and the black did not come in the Z code cloth interior. I'm Sooooooooooooo confused.

By the way, they do say the black/white combo is available for '79 though.
