Under side and engine compartment finishes

Postby Ishiftem » Tue Aug 25, 2009 11:50 pm

Hi ! I'm new here and looking forward to contributing! I have a 75 cosworth and was wondering what the under side of the floors should be. Right now the car is rust, under coating, spray bombs, primer(multiple colors) etc. Should it be body color or semi flat black or primer? What about the engine compartment? The car was originally black but I changed the color to a dark blue. I will be sand blasting the underside and engine compartment as soon as my new rotisserie shows up. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I will be posting pis in the future. I don't think any one would want to see what it looks like now. LOL! No .... it's not that bad. This is the second time I'm doing this car. Hope to get it right.

Shift,
Welcome to the site.
Ah, your signature is very controversial  - should get a few comments. :pook: :whack:
Let the debate begin - I can't wait!! :D
megavega - you're first :)

Engine compartment is body color. Underside, I think is the same - body color.

Well, just look at all of the junk in my garage (including a Cosworth Vega) and you will see that I have no shame. So post those pictures. NOW!!!

Its great to see where the cars start from. Check my garage, it shows how my Mirage looked when it arrived. It looks much better now and a lot of the work along the way is there too.

Thanks for the info! Here are a couple pics. I will be adding more pics to my garage when I get the time. Yes I do need professional help or my meds adjusted.

Do you still got the cosworth rims ? Would you think about to sell them ?

Oh it's staying 5 lug for sure. It has a Dana 44 under it now and vented monza rotors with the larger calipers. Spent a lot of money buying those wheels then having them powder coated.

I do have the cosworth wheels still and actually took pictures of them yesterday to put on ebay. If you are interested let me know and I can send you some pics of them. I want $225 plus the shipping.
