I just bought a 1976 Buick Skyhawk "S". Do you know where the RPO nubers are at?

Just go back to the first page of this thread, I posted the link to the production number's page on my website.

You can also get to it from the main page of my site, the last link in the left-hand margin (The RPO Codes list is also in this left-hand margin).

Are the RPO numbers physically located on the car?

For the most part, no, but you will find some information on the trim tag (or cowl tag). This is a metal tag on the cowl, under the hood, driver's side. It will provide VIN information, as well as colour and interior trim RPO Codes and possible a special edition or striping code if applicable. For all otehr RPO Codes for your car, you need the build sheet, if your lucky enough to find it somewhere inside the car (under seats/carpet, on top of headliner, in seat backs, behind or on top of glove boxes, behind door panels etc).

I found the build sheet to my 1976 Skyhawk under the front passenger side carpet.

I still owe Marco a scan of it.

I'll certainly take a copy of a build sheet if you find it, and a pic of the cowl tag too.
Cheers!

I read that someone might be interested in a pic of the cowl tag from my 78 Skyhawk and a small pic of whats left from the build sheet. If so, pm me and i'll send a pic.

I also have a picture(not scan) of the build sheet from my 1976 Buick Skyhawk.
It is too big to fit here on H-body and be able to read it.
Send me a PM with an email address that will accept a 2288x1712 JPEG image - about 11.2 MB in 16M colors or 3.7 MB in 256 Gray Scale (according to Pain Shop Pro). You'll be able to read everything clearly - trust me.
Here's a tease for 'ya:

I just noticed, your car was made for and sold by Childress Buick, which still exists today, by the way. My '79 Road Hawk was also made for and sold by Childress, small world, and Marco brings up a good point, a Southgate build sheet, wonder what, if any, differences there might be from a Lordstown one.

We are all holding our breath to find out - you two are the experts and I am sure we'll have a report from you soon. :D
I would have done this a LOT sooner had I realized that you don't have a Southgate build sheet in your inventory.

I've been looking at the site and have seen a few posts about build sheets. It seems that a lot of them are stuffed behind the seats, I just found most of mine for my '80 coupe under the console behind the hand brake. Just wanted to let new guys like me know another place to look.

Thanks Bryan for the hard work. I have been away for a little while but just started getting back to the Starfire project. Looking over the data, it is surprising ( and nice ) to see that only 668 1977 Starfire's were equipped with the 305 option. Wonder how many were in the GT model like mine. Makes mine even more of a keeper and worth the time/money I am starting to put in it, :th:
