How many remain?

Postby Allen » Sun Feb 28, 2010 12:57 pm

I was curious if anyone out there had seen any information or estimates of how many Pontiac Astre are still on the road. Might there be a general percentage rate that one could apply to estimate how many of "their" particular model remain. I have 2 Astre's, the production numbers are 18,140 for the '76 Notch, and 12,120 for the "77 hatch. I never see any others in person, and have seen only 4 on ebay in the past 2 years. I am very curious about this and would be appreciative for any notions.
I also want to say that this site and the resources it provides are exceptional...and Thanks to the administrators and members! You rock!

Wow,
A '73 Astre! You have one rare and beautiful gem there. I thought you might be in Canada, since that is a '73. I could not even guess what it is worth. A guy in a parking lot was admiring my '77 the other day, and suggested that it was worth 10,000. While I doubt that is accurate, i will probably never know 'cause I'm not selling!
Thanks for the pics guys, but I am still waiting for an answer on my question. Drive On!

If you can contact that guy again, let him know that I may be persuaded into selling him my '75 Astre for $10,000. Yah, that's about what an Astre is worth.

Mine is not a daily driver anymore, it was a couple years ago.

But I've never seen another Astre in person on the road. Aside from the ones on the internet, I've seen my other 76 Astre... and the 76 Astre hatchback in Phoenix that this old guy says "I'll get to it someday".

Actually, I've never seen another H-body on the road or at a cruise in the 5 or so years I've had mine.

That's a good question. I go to quite a few car shows and I have NEVER seen one! :(

With 147,773 Astres sold in the US for 1975-'77 model years there are quite a few left. The '77s turn up more since they have the Iron Duke engine. They're usually drivers. Astres for sale would be 1/3 of Vega if they were offered for sale at the same rate or survived at the same rate.

a comparison to 75-77 Vega
75-77 Vega 445,164 produced/ 105 for sale 10-18-10*
75-77 Astre 147,773 produced/ 5 for sale 10-18-10*
