I joined today. Posted a few pics of the '73 Hatchback GT.
I already had my Trans Ams/Firebird on Motortopia, so I figured I'd just add the Vega, too.

I think we should all go take another look!
The only Vega's that only had a little rust were the ones still on the assembly line.

Cool :th: I know it's a bit tricky. Now add the car to the Member/Cars box. (There would be three things to add to the group) - member (done) , the album(s) (done) and the car page(s) as well.

Re: Chevy Vega Group - Survivor and Vintage photo albums

Postby Lonnies Performance » Sun Jan 16, 2011 11:16 pm

I'm new to the site & I am quickly finding out there is not much info available on these cars.

Mine is a '77 Vega GT with only 69 miles on it.

Here is a link to some pictures of my car.
http://www.lonniesperformance.com/77vega.htm

It's history is as follows:
It was not sold at the original dealership in '77 so it was put in the back room.
My dad purchased it approx 15 yrs ago & I have owned it for the last 6 yrs.

I would like to get in contact with a few Vega "experts" to find out how many are left & what the approximate value is.

Thanks,
Lonnie

ANOTHER 1977 Vega with only 69 miles on it?
There was a brown 77 Vega in a museum for many years with similar mileage on it. It was listed on ebay and other places for about $10,000 - $12,500 or so.
Much discussion a few years ago on this site about that car.
Current owner, h-body.org member Vman, is converting the 69-mile, 1977 Brown Vega GT to a V-8 and has a Project Journal here on h-body somewhere. Here's a thread where Vman identified himself as the owner - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29139
But, Vman is MIA - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=30528

That should tell you what a stock, no-mile, 1977 Vega is worth.

Unfortunately, there is just little market value for a stock Vega. They are worth more with a well-crafted V-8 swapped in it.

There are not many survivor H cars left at all. Value wise it will be on the high end but that all depends on the buyer. An auction would probably bring top dollar.

If you want post or PM the option codes there are several of us here that can look at the total number production numbers and tell you how many Vega's were built with the options on your car. (finally looked at all the pictures) Brian

32L Light Lime one of 1,463 made for 77, 1.9% of the total carline production.
19A Black Sports Striping one of 862, 1.1% of the total carline production.
19W XBB2 Black Custom Vinyl Buckets one of 2,783, 3.5% of the total carline production.
Z29 GT Equipment one of 4,276, 5.5% of the total carline production.
M75 5spd manual trans one of 2,371, 3% of the total carline production.

Thanks for the info. I did not think there were many lime green ones. Kind of a love it or hate it color.
It stands out in the garage for sure.
I'm looking to get a reproduction window sticker to laminate.

I still have all the factory tags from the interior, visors etc. I'll try to get pictures of them to post.
It is a great conversation piece for sure.

I'm a racer at heart & the V-8 thing crossed my mind, but I cannot do it to an all original car. If it had 40K on it, I may think differently.

I always wanted an early style Vega to put a V-8 in & missed a 35K original grandma owned one about 20 years ago by only minutes. Never forgot the reply... "Sorry young man, I just sold it 5 minutes ago." When I asked how much it sold for, she said $1500. It was a nice garage kept car.

Too bad the collectability is not higher.... a 69mi Cosworth would probably raise some eyebrows.

Read the other post about the other 69mi Vega & wondered if it still exists.... even with more miles on it.
Mine is showing 68.85miles... guess & I'll have to keep it from hitting 69. Would love to drive it though, but I'll be content to just look at it.

You're welcome. If you would like copies I'll send them.

I would like to see the original tags you just don't run into that kind of stuff!

I understand see my red car that is my best shot at racing. Then I found my white car.

Maybe you will run into another Vega you're willing to cut up. Your Light Lime car though is a bit of history for sure.

I'll try to post some pictures. It is currently wedged in the corner of the garage, so getting pictures is kind of hard & our winter weather prevents me from getting it out.

I would like to see more info on production numbers if you could provide this info.
I am sort of a literature collector, so I would like to have this stuff to dispay with the car.

It is nice to find some people that are into these cars.

I've made some reproduction window stickers in the past... Right on regular printer paper, not exactly on the same paper they used, but the same look. I have a template for that sheet, and I use a photo program on a old computer to move letters and words around to create a personalized sheet. I've charged $25 for one in the past.
