brackets

Postby Lespaul59 » Sun Jan 09, 2011 4:14 pm

Does anyone have any photo's of the alternator brackets and where they go? I only have two that were in a box for this v-8 1979 Spyder. Thanks.

The bracket on the passenger side head looks completely different than what I got. Even looking at the pics of my old monza ,didn't have that. Are they factory monza brackets? Pretty sure the one bolted to the top of the water pump is correct.

sorry robsta11111, I should have addressed that to Lespaul59. He said he had two brackets that didn't look like the one in your first pic. On his year they discontinued the cast iron bracket and went with a series of stamped steel brackets similar to the ones on the intake side of yours.

These are the only brackets that came with the car. Anyone able to identify them? I can't tell if the big one is a standard bracket for sbc or a bracket only for a short pump. Help.

those look nothing like mine, but I figure a car with ac is going to mount the alt in a different manner than without. Those look like regular chevy small block alt mounts. Top mount goes water pump and intake and the other mount goes to the head.

Remember the regular sbc bracket that you're referring to won't work on a short water pump which Monza's came with. So I'm guessing it's for a long pump. What about the thin bracket?? Anyone?

The thin bracket is a power steering pump bracket. In the pic, it's upside down. I don't know if it goes on an h-body or not. If it does, the angle end bolts to the front exhaust manifold bolt on the driver's side using a stud end bolt. The straight end bolts to one of the holes beside the balancer. The stud on the back of the power steering pump goes in the slotted hole for adjusting belt tension.
If it don't scare me, I don't want it.
