I'd like to know..who has the latest date 1980 buildsheet, trim tag, or existing car?

I'll go first, I had a sunbird built on 10-13-80 (reg production was over the week of Aug 20th.)
This one is #164087 Total known production was 157,555. So there were at least 6,532 extra sunbirds made.
Day #278 @ 34 days into the extended production.

Anyone else have a 1980 car or trim tag buildsheet (Monza or Sunbird) with a later date?

If yours has a date code of 10A 10B 10C or 10D.... And the last 8 digits stat with a 2(monza) or 6(sunbird), Post it!

Here's the benchmark for the latest known Monza...

Light Blue Spyder

built on 10-15 / Day 280. #188,113. Reg production ended at 169,418.

Body number 461, 373.
(incidentally, the Sunbird of my first post has a newer body at number 462,894)

My buildsheet has 82-3415-10-17 on it, where does that put my car?

Cool...you hold the record now. looks like day 282 .

Wascobi and other's: This code will be on the trim tag. a 1980 trim tag is on the drivers side cowl under the hood.

On the buildsheet see the numbers in the top corner boxes and the top line where it says Body Unit Number.

Does this apply to Starfire's?

As far as I know they stopped making Starfire's and Skyhawks some time in December of 1979, probably at the Christmas Shut Down, and they continued to make only Monza's and Sunbirds for the remainder of the extended model year. So if you have a Starfire built in Dec 79 you have one at the end of production run.

Sorry Len, These numbers correspond to Oct, 1979. 2 months into production. Last month was 11C. Just before thanksgiving.

Thats wierd Marcoas the vin is
2-M07A-7A xxxxxx and the car is reg and insured as an 1980 sunbird .

if so, then maybe its the first one.. [and still the only W-66 Formula Sport Hatchback survivor so far]

Yes, your car was on the early side, Oct, 79. About a month into production yours was the 12,125th

Hi Len, Not really all that wierd. It is a 1980 Sunbird all day long. GM gets started on next years car's mid-year, to keep up with the competition and get all dealerships supplied with stock, before the new year actually begins.

This september you should be able to find the first 2012 models appearing at busy dealerships.

The model year begins at the end of August at the factory.
