dashboards

Postby monzacoupe » Tue Feb 21, 2012 7:36 pm

Hey everyone, I have an opportunity to buy a complete dash for $80. Two questions; the seller doesn't know what year the dash is (it's currently in an Astre) are dashes interchangable year to year? It comes with a "Sun" tach in the instrument cluster, is this a good thing?

Thanks for helping out,

Rick

I understand that dashes are interchangeable from all years models of Vega's/Astre's (seen it somewhere in the forums or another site). There were some cosmetic changes such as wood grain. Somebody please confirm.

I am guessing the Sun tach was put in 'cause the car it came out of had a V6 or V8 in it and the Vega tach would indicate the wrong RPMs unless modified.

If its for your '80 then It wont look like your current dash, and likely require some mods to bolt up.. Sun tach could be good, but depends on how well it was integrated into the dash.

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention that the dash is from a Monza. What it's doing in an Astre I don't know. The seller is unsure of the year of Monza that it came from, does it make a difference?

The 1975 Monza used a Vega GT style dash; if it's currently bolted into an Astre, chances are that's what it's from. If you want to put it in a later Monza like your 1980, there will be modifications/fabrication necessary.

Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....
