Assembly line pics found.. Vega..

Postby marco_1978_spyder » Sun Apr 14, 2013 9:01 pm

I found a pic of a Starfire...and small bit about them here (pic is tiny unless you buy a subscription) http://www.newspapers.com/newspage/2611721/

This so far is the ONLY KNOWN picture of a 2nd Gen H body at the lordstown plant.

Here are some possibly unseen before pics of Vegas:

My back hurts just looking at that first picture. It's no fun climbing in and out of over 400 cars a day.

I love seeing this stuff.
Is there someone laying in the back of the white wagon?

I saw that too.. Maybe break time.. take a ride over to the break room, lol..

Thanks for the Kudo's.. I was pretty surprised to find them, I was on one of my typical searches, and turning up the same old stuff.
But if you keep on searching keyword's sometimes you strike gold. Pic's of a 2nd generation in the same settings remain elusive..
Except for that Starfire in the link.

Most likely lunch time. A lot of guys would take a nap during lunch. Depending on where you worked a car without any seats made for a good spot to nap. On top of that the line starting up made for the perfect alarm clock.

If you guys like these assembly line shots there is a great set of photos from the Tarrytown Assembly Plant of 59 Chevy's being built. They were done by Life Magazine, some really cool photos try going to www.Xframechevy.com and search 59 Assembly line photos, very enjoyable photos

Marco,

thanks for sharing :th:

But maybe this info belongs more to the "Factory Original Purist" department, don´t you think? It´s so easy loose good threads in "General discussion"

Thanks,

Like the pics, thanks for sharing. I think i spotted mine! :D

I checked the other links too. neat stuff.
I lived in Norwood from age 12 till 40. About 1977 thru 2006 or so.
I remember riding my bike up to GM holding lot where they parked them till shipped. Camaros and Firebirds as far as you could see. Wish i had thought to take some pictures. Funny, to this day, I have never owned an F-body.
GM closing in Norwood sure hurt the area.
Thanks again for the Vega line pics
