Cam Question

Postby Jitterbugdude » Thu Mar 23, 2017 6:45 am

So today's question is... What is the difference between a 1 barrel cam and a 2 barrel cam? If I have a cam can I tell which one it is? if so, how? Thanks for any info!

Never really heard of camshafts referred to that way. My guess is the 2 bbl cam probably has a little more performance than the 1 bbl. Probably a little more duration and lift. Don't know how to identify it unless there is a part number on it

Clears it up somewhat. I have often seen 1 bbl cams and 2 bbl cams sold for Vegas. There's a guy on ebay with some for sale. Never could figure out what the difference was. My Master Parts Catalogue only calls out one.
Thanks

There are two different part numbers for 1BBL and 2BBL cams in the parts manual, but it would be nice to know the exact difference between the two.

It would be nice to know for sure. I have 2 new cams and 4 more (still in their heads) but I don't know if any of them are 1 or 2 bbl. One of the boxed cams has a part number on it and "American Cam" on the box. I could call them and see if they have any info.

Well hell.. that didn't go too well. I checked my post before sending and it showed a nice pretty chart. If anyone is interested I could try scanning the chart I have but its really hard to read.
