"stuffed" = worn out

"adapted to take the early model truck mount:"

Check out section 2.15 of the FAQ. http://h-body.org/library/hbodyfaq

The procedure in the FAQ is actually based on Camaro mounts but I think it's the same idea--basically making a hybrid mount out of new and old parts.

EDIT: I see AusRs posted a link to the truck procedure WITH illustrations. Nice! http://norra37.com/photos/monza/renover ... mounts.htm

Yep, thems the ones. But let me say this about that. The factory mounts were crap. I replaced mine back in the 80s when you could walk into the dealer and walk out with a set. They were sagging within a year, so the shimming began. I ended up rebuidling them with polyurethane.

That's some good news. We'll get him started on alternator brackets next.

How about this. You get a pair of these from summit for $18.95.

and you get 2 of these for $20.95 each

and bolt them to your mounts above, drill two new holes in your frame plates per side, set your motor in place with 3/8" clearance over your center link, then stack some washers under the tranny mounts and bolt it down. Think that would work?

monza motor mounts or in general

Postby dwragon » Thu Jun 21, 2007 3:10 am

i solved my vega with monza mounts like this.
1 obtain used monza body mount plate and bolt to car
2 purchase corvette LOCKER motor mount with horizontal thru bolt
and bolt to engine
3, locate square or rectangular tubing (your choice) that will
SNUGLY fit between MOTOR MOUNT bolt tabs
4, cut angles (test fit) to mount onto monza plates and weld
5, lower engine down on square tubing and drill holes for bolt to
go thru
6, bolt down engine.

process can be modified as needed, I have used this process for 15 years and never replaced one damaged motor mount.

So someone could make this piece as bolt on adapter by welding the angle cut box steel (described above) to a flat plate with the holes drilled in for bolting to the stock v8 frame plates.

Not that it would be any more efficient than just welding the box right onto the mount as described above.

I just figure, someone could make these easy and offer them for sale.

Then again, there'd be headaches over fitment issues, so maybe not.
