i don't know if i would just weld it on or actually cut the a arm out to fit it in then graft it to look stock

thats why i posted the idea to get some input on it

and i'm still not sure if the bottom is moved in the 1/4 inch if the top still needs moved or not

i'm doing this to a spare set of arms so i can just swap them out on the starfire after they are done

so i can't put them on the car to figure it out

I was going to ask Nic the same thing when I saw his post. I'd assume the tops stay in the stock location and the lowers get moved. So Nic, what is it?

ok now i got the lower amrs cut up and it looks like it too would line up really well with it moved inwards

but i think i would cut the monza arm to match what i cut out of the s-10 arm then weld the 2 together instead of welding it on top of the monza arm

it looks like a pain in the ass to cut just the balljoint ring out

At;east they are spare arms. I'd do one side and install them to see where you are. Then if you screwed up you just need 2 more arms. Actually you could use the stock ones your taking out.

they are not really spare arms i was going to put them on my 74 gt with v6 springs with s-10 ball joints but i can put the ones on my starfire on the 74 gt after i get this figured out it should be easy the second time

i'm not to worried about the upper arms i have a few extra sets of them but the deep pocket sway bar lowers i have just enough for my cars

With what you are going to do making deep pockets out of the shallow pockets arms would be cake.

Wow, that's a lot of work! Glad I didn't have to go there! I just don't like cutting up a main load-bearing part like that, and rewelding.

In the first pic of your last post on page 1, that's about exactly where you grind it! If I remember correctly, I think the hole was ground practically to the outer lip of the UCA.

I dunno though... sounds like everyone's had a tougher time than I did. :?

well one of the lowers is done it moved the ball joint in 1/4 inch

i will probably go on the inside and box the tip of the control arm for extra strength

Wasn't it caveman that boxed his control arms? I think so, check out his project journal or garage. I'd box them.

I'd atleast go past the weld alittle. If it was me anyway. Not that I don't trust my welds but to help with any flex. Ok, I don't trust my welds enough to weld 2 A-arms together.
