Firehawwk 002 is right on the money,,When I was involved doing body work in a couple of body shops,,,,some of us used a Glass guy with a knowlege of the bussiness. And would ocasionally call a larger glass supplier for additional info,,and a recondmedation for local installer,,AS for me I can do my own from experieance,, Since I suspect the leak is metal missing or rot,,, will wait and pull the W/shield out when I can get the car inside the shop for metal replacement and paint as the car will be open to the enviroment a day or more depending on what I found in the way of the sealing surface,,Another one of firehawk002 Good info is the holding power, of the adhesive's ,,,cutting out a unknown substance can ruin your day especialy the grip,,of the material,,, Razor knifes with the adjustable depth and break away replacement,,or a good start,,but the profesional glass tools for removing the material are avalible,,My second favorite is the piano wire with two T_handles Caution is the key,, remove the A-Pilllars covers,,,,,AND the top headliner conecter clanp to prevent cutting and scratching,,inserting the wire into the wind shield's adhesive is a job,,, as the kit I bought from a supplyer had also a roll of wire 50 foot, and a ice pick device with a hole for the wire in the tip,,,,pushing gentaly beside the glass,,edgehalf way up the side post and slightly in under the glass with just the tip removing a little material and feeding the wire until you get it started,,then ataching the wire inside you add the other handle,,, (has allen set screws) you cut the wire two to three foot, conect and saw the material out,,Yeah It will Make you nervous,,but go slow and use a a little liqud soap for cooling ,,if you have no help,, get two extra people one inside,,, 2nd outside,,3rd one lubricating and if you go to fast it will stress the wire and will break. My other favorite tool had a handle for one hand with a replaceble almost 90 degree blade,,,and a T- handle with six inch's of cable conected near the blade,,,At the body shop,,,,,, They call it the butter cutter,,, it slips in to the void, obiously and cuts some window's out with a couple of stitches to the hand,,brokenblades
and looks good in the tool box.,,
,NEXT TO THE BANDAIDS
But will cut with a high degree of confendence,, the material at hand ,,,,,,depending on the situation, some times realy good,,,,,,,And yes there will be blood,,,So if you like the odds contact a profesional,,,get a estimate, or proceed,, Mike
