I remmeber that car from years back. The Mirage always looked so much better in black than white, especially with the gold trim and tan interior.

Hammerdown7 that is a nice looking Monza!

I guess B.O.R.T. was responsible for the Astre Lil wide track too. I'll have to ask how many were made in 75.

I have another shot of it with the whale tail from the B.O.R.T prototype. I sold this car in 1980, how many times can one kick himself!

That's the picture I remember.

Do you need another leg (or 2) for kicking?

They have been tired for a long time. If you're going to help you'll have to come to Detroit, I'm not coming your way to get a swift kick!

Well Jack Purcell has seen two pictures of this IMSA Monza and has no knowledge of any Dealer-sold ones. He is still going to ask around and has offered some information on the Mirage. When I find out more I'll let you guys know. Brian

Thanks Brian,
Any idea where Purcell currently lives? Juratovic was based in Michigan but I don't know if he still lives here. See http://www.hemmings.com/hcc/stories/200 ... ture6.html

Wow, I just ran across this topic tonight, but anything I would have had to offer has already been brought up. Dick already answered the B.O.R.T. riddle when I saw Jack's name come up and he mentioned Juratovic as well. I also remember the connection you had, Dick with both of them and your black Monza... (another swift kick from Indiana for selling it... JK) LOVED the whale tail by the way... I remember you saying it was a prototype they had come up with but decided against using and let you have it. It was my goal a few years ago to track down both Jacks and I found Purcell but not Juratovic. I think it would be a great thing if we could sponsor a live chat with him on this board somehow with everyone and we could ask all the questions in one swing without harassing him too badly a different times from several people. Is that possible here on this forum?

Ken I don't think he is on the computer much. I was going to snail mail him pictures before he asked his wife to talk to me so I could email. When I talk to him later this week I'll ask what might work for him.

He had mentioned to me the original Mirage design included the whale tail. Then a GM person did not like it because it reminded him of Porsche so they didn't go with it. Jack is sending me some design drawings so maybe one will show the whale tail. Brian

I talked to Jack tonight and in his network of friends not one of them know of a IMSA body Monza from a dealership. He thinks that if the body panels are GM parts there should be part numbers on them. Maybe a person who worked at Diversified Glass Products could help?

Jack is sending some Mirage info to us so when it comes I'll have it posted on the site and good copies to whoever wants them.

Dick according to Jack there were three of those whale tails made. There is an original drawing of it included with what he is sending.

Bryan have you heard from Chuck recently? I know he was asking for your help but he just might tell us more than we can tell him. Hope Chuck finds that build sheet.

We definitely have GM part numbers, just not sure if they are on the IMSA panels or not. (of course what I have may very well not be GM, I have absolutely no idea of their history).

I have not heard from Chuck in a while, I'll fire off an email to him with a gentle reminder.

Hey Dick, I just noticed the Cosworth Twin Cam decals on the side of your old black Monza. Did you put a Cosworth motor in that? Chris
