383 stroker ????

Postby yfz450man » Thu Dec 06, 2018 8:31 am

Hey all
So I got my 80 spyder this fall and now that it’s parked for its winter nap I’m planning on doing an engine swap, I have a chance of getting a 383 for it for a good price, I’ve heard you can’t put a stroker in a monza though due to oil pan clearance I am planning on using the stock oil pan and getting new motor mounts is this an option ? Using a stroker motor
Any other things I should know if I can go that route I’m not looking for a race car just want some power and a good sound
Thank all

Whether or not you have to change the oil pan is going to be dependent on which rods and rod bolts it has. What hits the edge of the block at the oilpan is typically the nut that holds the rod cap on. I used the moroso oilpan that isnt supposed to fit a stroker on my 406 with no issues.

I used a Milodon pan with my 383. Mine had 400 rods, though.

miledon makes it for the vega( 400 and up cu.in. stroker sbc.) so does moroso, call both companies just to be sure. jegs or summitt may say they have them and they may or may not be right, always best to be informed before ordering. art
