I have read through this and it doesn't really seem like a bad idea. I actually may very well go for it. Anyhow any thoughts or opinions feel free to comment.

The only problem I am having with investigating this, is it looks like the pistons are no longer available. At least I have not been able to find them anywhere. Does anyone know how I could find pistons with a 4.030 bore that will have a 9.5-1 compression ratio at 70cc's and have it be a reliable piston? Or just as good is there any catalog's that I can get for free from a piston manufacturer?

Thanks for any and all help guys. This one is driving me kinda nuts. I kept looking through summitracing and a couple of other places but nobody displays the compression ratios.

Thanks again
Bill

That's not a tough request. I checked SRP's catalog and they list a 4.030" forged flattop that will give ~9.6:1 with a 70cc head and zero deck. These would be very reliable at 420hp.

Check out the listing at the top of this page...

There is a couple pages of part#'s. You may be able to find what you are looking for without having to pay for forged pistons. Unless you are going with forced induction. Go with the forged pistons for certain then.

That chart you gave me is a little confusing. How am I supposed to know what compression ratios it has per cc's? Sorry if I seem like a newbie at this but I haven't really done to much internal work on motors before.

Sorry man. I used a CR calculator:

http://www.csgnetwork.com/compcalc.html

I made some assumptions about your set up:
Gasket bore: 4.06
Compressed head gasket thickness: 0.05"
Head volume: 70cc
Piston volume: -4cc (for this calculator)
Piston deck: 0

It came out to about 9.6:1

Wow this can get complicated lol. Thanks though. My setup will most likely be similar to what you described.

what do you guys think about these head gaskets for the setup shown on the link. I found the fel-pro ones that were suggested but they did not look right. They seemed made for a bigger bore.
