Never seen that movie. Of course, I really don't have time for movies. If I don't sell my Vega soon the next Pontiac engine will have these new CV-1 heads on it. (as you can tell in the intake port design, they are not like common Pontiac heads);

At .500" lift, the CV-1 heads are flowing 345 cfm. :D

Thanks res0o7eb for that link. I actuly had a hand in the CV-1 heads, so if anyone needs info, just ask. I did some preproduction work on them. The ford intake will not work well on them. (we tried it) which led to the CV-1 intake getting made just for these heads. How's 345 cfm @ only .500" lift? On a 428 pump gas engine that is in a 73 T/A, it dyno'ed over 600hp at only 6000rpm with the CV-1's and hyd. roller cam. 91 octane pump garbage, er gas.

You will find Jim is very friendly and knows his stuff! Sorry, didn' mean to sound like an ad for the CV-1's, just happy to be a part of getting them ready to bring to market! (btw, they are avalible now, over 40 has been sold since first of the year).

The one picture shows the height of the heads and intake, appox. 5/8" taller than Edelbrock heads/Victor combo. Here is more pictures. Note the exhaust first design square port as opposed to better flowing in production laid over "D" shape. This (on my grinding bench and squareports) was middle of last year (2007) just before we started trying different exhaust exit shapes. The current production"laid over D" flows more cfm and is actuly less cc's so it helped torque and HP. Enjoy.

Got the word today there will be a major very popular magazine with an article coming out in the next 3-4 months using the CV-1 heads. (yes, i know all about the engine built for it, but I can't revel anything until the Magazine hits newstands). I just know it will impress people. :D

It's been a while since anything was posted here in this thread, but a question was posted about using Buick V-6 motor mounts for a Pontiac V-8 swap in another thread
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28983

I am replying here, but each thread is now cross-referenced to the other.

There are 4 basic parts to mounting the V-8:
1. Frame Plates - these are large stamped steel plates that bolt to the frame rails.
2. Motor Mount 'Pads' - these bolt to the frame plates and have a 'longitudinal' hole in it with some rubber around it to isolate vibrations.
3. Motor Mounts - these bolt to the engine and have 2 'ears' with holes in them for the Motor Mount Bolt.
4. Motor Mount Bolts/Nuts - the main item is a long bolt that is installed through the 'ears' of the Motor Mount and through the 'longitudinal' hole in the Motor Mount 'Pad'.

The Buick V-6 and V-8 Motor Mount 'Pad' is narrower than the Pontiac V-8 Motor Mount 'Pad'. Also, where the 'Pad' bolts to the Frame Plates, the Buick 'Pad' has 3 bolts and the Pontiac 'Pad' has 4 bolts.

H-body.org member cammerJeff posted some good pics of the Buick V-6 Frame Plates with the attached Motor Mount 'Pads' here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28788&start=6

Here's a thread here on h-body.org on centering and aligning the engine in the vehicle with some links to another web site with some good diagrams(not H-Body-specific):
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=29457

This information will be needed when installing a Pontiac V-8 in your H-body.

Interesting write-up - with lots of pics - on rebuilding a 301 from our friends at 301Garage.
Even a how-to on adding piston oil squirters.

That was cool reading about our thread on a whole different forum. Not that this is relevant but I've been doing a lot of research about using the latest "Honda" journal rods to lighten up the rotating assembly and potentially offset grind for more stroke. For the Buick/Rover you can get 3.5" out of a Rover 4.6L crank. I was also looking into using it with the Buick 350 crank in the Rover block. Interesting stuff.

What do you think? Worth looking into? Maybe this would help the 350 crank swap idea. The 301 crank may already be too weak to mess with this way but the 350 crank with lighter pistons and rods would really help balance with the larger stroke.
